Feedback on the Proposed Legal Reform for the Tourism Industry

Front Harsien ODZ notes that the Ministry for Tourism is inviting the public for feedback regarding the Proposed Legal Reform for the Tourism Industry.

In this regard, Front Harsien ODZ is hereby submitting the following suggestions:
1. No ODZ development should be supported by the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority. Both entities should immediately object to Government / MEPA once such development is proposed at both conceptual and planning levels.
2. No new private beach development should be supported by the Ministry for Tourism and Malta Tourism Authority. Both entities should immediately object to Government / MEPA once such development is proposed at both conceptual and planning levels.
3. The Legal Reform should aim for different types of tourist sectors and niches, but this should not be used as a justification to push forward ODZ development.
4. The Ministry of Tourism and Malta Tourism Authority’s policies and operations should be in sync with those of other Ministries operating in related sectors, e.g. environment, transport, education, economy.
5. Local Councils, NGOs and other stakeholders should be consistently consulted on policy making processes and operational procedures.
